Søndag 6. mai: Trondheim -> Baltimore

The skies are quiet on Sunday mornings so we leave home at around 10:00 and have plenty of time in Oslo before our flight to Reykjavik depart at 14:45.  After a couple of hours in the air we dive into the fog and suddenly, we see a runway and a few buildings out of nowwhere.  It’s a strange feeling…

Every afternoon flights from all over Europe decends at this lonely runway and disembark their passengers.  At almost the same time flights from the US arrive and the passengers walk the short distance to the tax-free stores.  Then they board for Europe.  Reykjavik must have a tremendous amount of traffic compared to their own size and airhostess must be a very ordinary job in Iceland.  I’m sure that Iceland has more to offer, but today it feels like a very strange place as we take off for Baltimore and into the fog again…

We arrive at Baltimore Washington International airport 45 minutes late and after the normal proceedings at imigration try to find the Dollar counter to pick up our rental car. After what seems like a long walk through a very crowded and old terminal we find the Dollar sign… We have a “voucher” with “all taxes included”, but the clerk have never seen or heard of such a thing before!  Very strange! After some arguing we agree to pay the “airport tax” and dealing with this matter when we get home. (We got our money back after several emails telling how bad the Dollar service was in Baltimore. Never again!)
